TLS, one page, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, December 4, 1933. Letter to Major General John A. Lejeune at the Virginia Military Institute, in part: "Thanks for your very cordial and tempting invitation. I wish it were possible for me to visit V.M.I., and if the opportunity presents itself will be only too glad to do so. Just at present, as you know, there is very little time for anything beyond the exacting duties of the office. Mrs. Roosevelt joins me in regards to you and Mrs. Lejeune." In very good to fine condition, with light rippling, and show-through, at the top from an old clipping affixed to the back. One of the most celebrated Marines of all time, Lejeune became superintendent of the Virginia Military Institute after his retirement from the US Marine Corps.
