TLS as president-elect, one page, 8.5 x 11, Executive Mansion letterhead, December 24, 1932. Letter to author Hermann Hagedorn, in full: "In the general clean-up of my desk which precedes our final withdrawal from Albany, I find a good letter from you which should have been acknowledged long before the election. So much water has gone over the dam since then, that it is useless for me to comment on the many interesting things contained therein, but I do want to thank you for wishing me good luck, and in my turn extend the hope that you and your family have a very happy holiday season. I hope I may see you some time when you return to this country." In very good to fine condition, with light toning along a fold, and three tears to the left edge. A gracious letter from FDR written a week before leaving Albany for Washington, D.C. Hagedorn was an American author, poet, and Harvard instructor (1882-1964) who was also a friend and biographer of Theodore Roosevelt. He also served as Secretary and Director of the Theodore Roosevelt Association from 1919 to 1957.
