John Adams free frank address leaf signed ''J Adams'', dated 6 October (1820), and addressed to biographer John Sanderson, who was then writing his famous nine-volume work, ''Biography of the Signers to the Declaration of Independence'' and included a 49 page chapter on Adams. With various postal markings, including ''Quincy Ms Octr 6th'', ''Free'' and addressee ''John Sanderson Esqr / Philadelphia'' in another hand. Additionally watermarked ''J Green / 1815'' and docketed, most probably by Sanderson. Address panel measures 5'' x 3'' and document measures 9.75'' x 7'' unfolded, with an infill to upper blank area. Very good condition overall.
