This is an original Frank Wesson 5th Type two trigger rifle chambered in the .44 rimfire caliber. Frank Wesson made rifles between 1859-1888 with many supplied to states during the Civil War. This rifle features a blued octagon barrel with open sporting sights. The barrel is marked "Frank Wesson Worcester Mass. Pat'd Oct 25 1859 & Nov 11 1862". The rifle has a two trigger system with one that opens the breech and the other to fire the weapon. The crescent butt stock is made from solid walnut hardwood with a steel butt plate. The tang has a port to attach a rear peep sight. The Frank Wesson rifle shows good overall condition. It measures 43" long. Serial number is "955". This is an antique firearm manufactured before 1898 . NO FFL required.
