Documentation on the back from Tewa Enterprises reads as follows: Frank Vigil was born on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation on Sept 24th, 1922. He grew up there and developed throughout boyhood into a self-taught artist. The subjects of his work are often the same as another artist, Quincy Tahoma; both men rendering wild animals and horses with great power and strength. In hi horse drawings and paintings, Frank had an excellent ability to capture difficult rearing poses. He was a hunter and a man of the outdoors; his paintings of elk and mule deer are both accurate and dramatic and reflect his regard for the subjects. Vigil's work has been widely exhibited, won numerous prizes, and hangs in most museums that boast collections of the work of native American artists. We at Tewa worked with frank from 1966 until the time of his death in Arizona in 197; and since we have missed him very much indeed."
