Frank Thomas, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse My Hero Bronze Sculpture Signature Series (Walt Disney
Frank Thomas, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse "My Hero" Bronze Sculpture Signature Series (Walt Disney, 2000). Once a year, beginning in 1992, Disney enthusiasts converged on a Disney theme park for a week of all things Disney. The 2000 Disneyana Convention presented this sculpture as part of its Frank Thomas Signature Series. Thomas was a titan of Disney's character animation, where the animated drawings seem to act, think, and express emotions. He is credited with animating Thumper and Bambi on the ice in "Bambi", Lady and Tramp eating a romantic spaghetti dinner in "Lady and the Tramp", and Mad Madam Mim in "The Sword in the Stone." Frank received the Disney Legend Award in 1989, an award created by Roy E. Disney to honor individuals whose body of work has made a significant impact on the Disney entertainment legacy. This heroic scene is re-enacted from "The Brave Little Tailor", released in 1938, wherein Mickey, the tailor, kills "seven flies with one blow." The King, thinking that Mickey is talking about giants, sends him out to kill one, and offers him the hand of the Princess Minnie in return. This sculpture was produced in a limited edition of 25, but this edition is from an even scarcer subset, it is number 2 of only 8 "Artist's Proofs" that were given to the artists who worked on this sculpture. The figure was sculpted by Bruce Lau for Frank Thomas (White Horse Studios). The work stands 11" tall, on a round base that measures 10" wide, and is in Excellent condition. This piece originally retailed at $1,950 and quickly sold out. Comes with a signed signature series plaque from the creating artist.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
