Frank Robbins - Scorchy Smith Daily Comic Strip Original Art, dated 4-22 (Associated Press Syndicate, undated). Scorchy's most remarkable artist, next to the original artist Noel Sickles, was Frank Robbins, whose forceful, virile line and drawing endowed the strip with striking reality and a very real solidity. The date on this strip is March 22, but the year is uncertain. Robbins began working on this strip in 1939, and continued until 1944, when he began Johnny Hazard for King Features Syndicate. Inscribed at the bottom is a message: "To Gill (Fox) from Frank." A gift from one giant to another. The art measures 20" x 5" and aside from some tiny stains in the third panel, and some slight aging apparent, this art is in Excellent condition. Nice work if you get it! From the collection of Gill Fox.
