Irish-American editor, writer, and publisher (1855–1931) who is best remembered for his controversial multiple-volume memoir My Life and Loves. Rare ALS, one page, 5.25 x 8, The American Express Co. letterhead, May 16, 1925. Letter to Grace Thomas, in full: "Some months ago now I sent you the only copy I had of 'Mr. & Mrs. Daventry' and too often wondered since why you didn't write. The American Postal authorities, however, have often played me such tricks. In a month I'll get the thing printed & send you a copy, but I've done lots of work that w'd suit the films better: why not write Mitchell Kennerley the NY publisher & ask him to send you a copy of my 'Unpath'd Waters,' my best book of short stories in w'h you'll surely find 3 or 4 better than 'Mr & Mrs. Daventry.' We too can send you a copy of my 'Montes' which Charlie Chaplin said held the best film story he had ever read. Either Kennerley or Brentano's New York can supply you with all my books." Harris adds a postscript: "Please write me again if you still want the Daventry play!" In fine condition.
