14 in. x 20 in. Pencil and ink on board. In the world of fantasy, and science fiction art, there is one artist that has always been considered the single most important artist in the genre: Frank Frazetta. Known for his work in  comic book covers, paperback book covers, paintings, posters, record album covers and other media, Frazetta was always respected in the art world as one of the few artists that was talented enough to “crossover” into the fine art world with his oil paintings, some selling for over a million dollars. Starting in comic books in the 1940s, Frazetta’s comic book work has always been treasured and is usually held tightly in private collectors’ hands, never to see the light of day back into the public market. What we have here is a rare opportunity to own one of Frazetta’s earliest comic book works, his very first published cover, the very beautiful cover to Ghost Rider #2 (Jan 1950- Magazine Enterprises). This particular cover of the early western superhero shows the title character riding in on his horse, guns drawn, to do battle with the Grim Reaper riding a stagecoach! This cover not only shows some of the wonderful horror/fantasy elements that Frazetta was known for, but notice the sharp detail of the horses, and the fine line work that made Frazetta stand out as such an exceptional artist! The art is signed with the initials “FF” in black ink in upper right under the Ghost Riders cape. Not only is this a chance to own a stunningly beautiful and rare Frazetta cover, but a landmark in Frazetta’s career as well.
