Permission slip signed “Frank Borman,” one page, 8.5 x 14, October 24, 1983, reproducing his letter of February 22, 1983, to Paul Rifkin. The original letter read, in full: "Regarding the question in your recent letter, I am proud to say that I am a very strong believer in God. There was no particular single instance where His presence was made known to me. I’ve been conscious of God, and His influence upon my life, since my earliest recollections. And it is the confidence that He has the power to direct my life that has sustained me in every major decision I’ve had to make. Without this foundation of faith, my life could never have been so rewarding. Thank you for your interest, and for including me in your report.” Borman’s reproduced signature is printed below. The authentically signed permission slip at the bottom reads: "I herewith give Paul Rifkin permission to include this response in his forthcoming book." In fine condition.

Rifkin, posing as a fifth-grade student doing a school project, wrote to notable individuals in a wide variety of fields, posing them all a simple question: 'Do you believe in God?' After receiving responses to his inquiry, he replied to reveal himself and ask for permission to publish their answers. With the approval of many respondents, Rifkin edited a compilation entitled The God Letters, published by Warner Books in 1986.
