TLS signed “Frank,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, Eastern Air Lines letterhead, September 17, 1984. Letter to fellow Apollo astronaut Jim Irwin, in full: "I appreciate your personal endorsement for Mr. William Nelson who is interested in becoming a pilot with Eastern. He certainly sounds like an impressive individual. Our recruitment staff has forwarded an application to Mr. Nelson, and we will review his qualifications according to our standards. Should we find his credentials to be competitive, I can assure you he will receive every consideration. Susan and I extend our regards." Below his signature, Borman handwrites: "Best of everything Jim!" In fine condition. Borman served as the CEO of Eastern Airlines from 1975 until his retirement in 1986. Correspondence between Apollo astronauts is seldom offered.
