Frank Baum ''Princess of Oz'' Signed
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Frank Baum signed first edition of ''The Lost Princess of Oz.'' The Reilly & Britton Co.: Chicago: 1917. This beautifully illustrated novel in the Oz series is signed by Baum on the front free endpaper, ''Compliments of L Frank Baum''. Lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Corky Foote Olander, who previously owned the book and whose father acquired it from Shirley's father. Olander writes in the letter, ''…A neighborhood playmate of mine was Shirley Temple who I saw quite often…Because of Shirley's association with the movie studios, I am assuming that was the reason she had signed copies of most or all of the books. In any event, my parents and Shirley's were friends and Mr. Temple and my dad (Ray Foote) worked together on the Brentwood Park Homeowner's Association…Mr. Temple gave a copy to my dad to give to me…'' The book retains its original blue cloth boards and spine, and seven color plates, missing five of the original twelve. In fair to good condition, with spine nearly detached from book. Interior pages are clean with only one illustration colored in with crayon. 313pp. novel measures 7'' x 9.25''.
