In full (translated): “While I regret that you will not be able to publish the script for ‘Mata Hari,’ I am willing to entrust you with that for ‘Soft Skin’ with the photo supplement on ‘Mata Hari.’ I hope that indexing the film will not create too many problems. Unfortunately I no longer have access to my own editing room where the indexing of ‘Jules and Jim’ was done. But the final script is easy enough to reconstitute, and, in addition, I am in the process of putting together on two 300-meter reels the main cuts from ‘Soft Skin,’ which I plan on donating to the Cinematheque.” In fine condition, with wrinkles and a pencil notation beneath his signature. Superlative film content!
