At the 1913 US Open at the Country Club, Ouimet (1893–1967), a former caddy, changed the perceptions of an entire sport with a stunning triumph that captured the imagination of sports fans across the globe. Color vintage glossy 7.75 x 10 photo of Ouimet taken at his home in Wellesley, Massachusetts with some of his golf trophies on the mantel, signed and inscribed in red felt tip “To Jonas Wall, Francis Ouimet.” In fine condition, with surface impressions and the end of his signature a little light due to the extreme glossiness of the photo. In 1951, he was selected to be the first non-Briton Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews in Scotland. The photo, in which he is wearing the traditional red Captain’s jacket along with the Queen Adelaide medal, was used to create his official oil painting that hung in the clubhouse at St. Andrews for years.
