Victorian anthropologist, eugenicist, tropical explorer, geographer, and inventor. ALS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4 x 6.25, personal letterhead, November 1, 1905. Letter to Frazer. In part: “Tomorrow I am trying a field of what might rank as sympathetic magic, though not to be performed for that reason. The doctors hurry me abroad owing to an attack of my old winter enemy, asthmatic bronchitis, combined with some influenza…Your sympathetic magic is responsible for this horrible pun.” In fine condition, with a couple trivial brushes and pencil notations along top edge.
