In February of this year, a video installation by Frank Conway entitled become was exhibited at The Model, Sligo. The work was a film portrait of influential Sligo sculptor Fred Conlon, filmed six weeks before he died in 2005.
Conway is a graduate of National College of Art and Design and the English National Opera Theatre Design Course, former head of Design at the Abbey Theatre and an award winning scenographer, artist and lecturer working in film and theatre in Ireland and abroad. Conway has work on several private and public commissions including, Breath, a site specific installation for Dublin City Arts Centre and created the Sligo Breath Project, a series of installations involving the participation of almost 1,000 people, in five locations in the city. His film credits include Beckett on Film (Come and Go), The Field; This is my Father; as well as dramas and documentaries for BBC and ITV.
