Reverse: BRITANIS BAVATIS QUE DEVICTIS VICTORY standing on ancient boat, inscribing tablet on a trophy, flying a French pennant, the boat containing captured arms and armour. The tablet is inscribed: VELE... (last letter being written) and Below: MALAGA In the exergue: XXIV AUGUST MDCCIX Commemorates the victory in a naval battle over the English and Dutch fleets on August 25, 1709, near Malaga, in southern Spain. The medal weighs 188.1 grams, and measures 67 mm. There is no Paris Mint Bronze stamp on the edge, and this piece has every appearance of being an original striking.
