<td width="100%">
This is for a print of the 3rd avenue railroad station of New York that I believe was in the Manhattan area. It is a charming print and shows all the activity that would take place on the street during the 1800?s including some horses and wagons on streets of cobblestone and dirt. Even the passenger rail cars are pulled by horses so it is likely prior to the steam engine period. The setting is in front of the 3rd avenue railroad depot. In addition to the other activity, there is a hot air balloon in the sky.
I am not able to make out the artist name in this print however, the picture says it is dedicated to Wm. A Darling esq president of the 3rd avenue railroad. Wm. A Darling was president of the 3rd avenue rail road during the civil war as he is mentioned in that capacity in some papers that Abraham Lincoln produced in 1862. There is no indication as to the age of this print but it came from someone that used to work for the railroad.
The print has a wood frame and is approximately 34 ½? by 25 ½?. The print is in good shape with one scratch on the print of about 1 ½? X 1/8?. There is some wear on the wooden frame in select spots.
