From the Collection of Nick & Suzanne Nicholas. Framed & Matted Print by Kiowa Artist Robert Redbird Jr. This gorgeous piece is under glass and depicts a beautifully robed Native American. Bright and vivd colors make this a wonderful representation of this artists work. It has a visual measurement of approx. 9.5''H x 13''W. ROBERT REDBIRD was born in Oklahoma in 1939 to Kiowa Indian parents. The family's tribal affiliation was to the Kiowa Gourd Clan. As a young child, REDBIRD always displayed an unusual interest in drawing and coloring. As he continued with his scholastic studies, his teachers became more aware of REDBIRD's unique artistic ability. As he matured and his technique improved, REDBIRD gravitated to using watercolors. He became extremely skillful and prolific in this method and Kiowa folklore emerged in his paintings. Dramatic blanket folds of brilliant color were evident in the attire of both men and women. Indian symbols of pottery, feathers, eagles and mountains became the unmistakable mark of ROBERT REDBIRD. He has been able to preserve and communicate Kiowa culture through his exciting work. Two of his original paintings are part of the permanent collection of the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona.
