After replacing the infamous Wally Pipp, the "Iron Horse" Lou Gehrig went on to play in 2,130 consecutive games for the Yankees, a record that would stand for over 50 years. Succumbing to the disease that would later bear his name, Gehrig died in 1941 at the age of 38, a few weeks shy of his birthday. This 17-1/2" x 21-1/2" framed display has a "memories" type collage photo of Lou Gehrig with wife and baseball memorabilia, matted with a 1-1/2" x 2" cut that has been signed and inscribe din black fountain pen by Gehrig, who added "Best wishes." Cut shows some creasing. NRMT-MINT display with signature and inscription that grade an 8 to 9. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
