Framed Antique Print from Samuel Pepys Diary, visual measures 7.75'' x 5 7/8'', overall framed measurement of 16.25'' x 18.25'', matted and under glass, this is from his entry on Sunday 7 August 1664, there is a signature in pencil, perhaps the illustrator, FYI: ''Samuel Pepys 23 February 1633 - 26 May 1703) was an English diarist and naval administrator. He served as administrator of the Navy of England and Member of Parliament and is most famous for the diary he kept for a decade while still a young man. The diary which Samuel Pepys kept from January 1660 to May 1669 ...is one of our greatest historical records and... a major work of English literature, writes the renowned historian Paul Johnson. A witness to the coronation of Charles II, the Great Plague of 1665, and the Great Fire of 1666, Pepys chronicled the events of his day.
