French nobleman (1779–1863) who attempted to organize an army to restore the throne of Louis XVIII. ALS in French, one page, 5.25 x 7, no date. An untranslated message in which La Rochefoucauld writes an unnamed gentleman and offers his box for the premiere of a performance starring French actress Marie Dorval in a “new piece.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, scattered toning and soiling, tape at the top corners, and a bit of tearing at top left corner and along one fold line.
