Fr. UNL Hessler X106L $1000 Loan of 1842 Coupon
Fr. UNL Hessler X106L $1000 Loan of 1842 Coupon Bond Proof New.
This $1000 proof bond is thought to be a coupon bond because of the proof $30 coupon sheet that is glued to the back of a Hessler X106H in this auction. The Loan of 1842 was the first issue of coupon bonds for the United States. This $1000 proof bond is mounted on light card stock. It has light glue stains, some minor corner separation, and edge tears with the longest being approximately two inches. The paper is still bright while the light card stock back shows a transference impression from an early intaglio souvenir card of famous Americans. The 1842 coupon bonds are not given a rarity rating by Hessler. This was also part of the ABNCo archives auction of 1990. Maybe a couple of collector generations will pass again before this material is available once more.

Coin Engraver: probably Joseph Wright

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
