Fr. TN-16a Hessler X83A $3 March 25, 1815 "Act of February 24, 1815" Treasury Note Fine. This is a fully signed note by F.W. McGeary and C.C. Biddle that also has the countersignature of Register of the Treasury Joseph Nourse. Serial number 5148-D has crispy paper, healthy edges, even wear, plus a handful of pinholes and some foxing in the center that in no way detracts from the importance of the only "$3 bill" issued by the government of the United States. The provenance of this historic note comes from the F.C.C. Boyd Collection through the John J. Ford Collection, where it is described in part by Stack's in October 2004 as ". . . one of the highlights of the Ford Paper Money Collection. The note is Unique in this fully issued and uncancelled state. The existence of this note in private hands is clear proof that these notes were meant to and did circulate." This is a wonderful opportunity to capture this all-important unique Trey, that was off the market for almost 50 years between the Boyd and Ford offerings.
