Fr. TN-1 Hessler X69 Unlisted $1000 Act of June 3
Fr. TN-1 Hessler X69 Unlisted $1000 Act of June 30, 1812 Treasury Note Extremely Fine. This plate letter A remainder has jumbo margins that include a slice of the note below, while red and blue silk fibers perform their anti-counterfeiting waltz about the surface of this $1,000. This is one of only three known, with all being remainders. Three lateral folds are noticed, plus some other trivial handling that includes a few pinholes that are buried in the selvage. Also, a three-letter pencilled notation is found on the back, while the back lower right-hand corner reveals a small face-to-back offset of a portion of the ornate-geometrically ruled panel. This note was part of the John J. Ford October 2004 sale, where it surfaced for the first time since being purchased from Julian Blanchard in September 1955. Slip up tonight, and another half a century may elapse.
