<B>Fr. 822 $20 1915 Federal Reserve Bank Note PMG Very Fine 30.</B></I> An incredibly rare note, with the traditional census standing at just four pieces. Tom's note, which he acquired many decades ago, and which appears on no census records, is the fifth known piece. One of the five is permanently impounded in the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, leaving the effective total for collectors at four. The note is unpriced in the Friedberg reference, and simply noted as "Rare," which it indeed is. The last opportunity to purchase an 822 was in a February 2004 auction, where a raw AU realized $11,500. Prior to that was the sale of the same note in 1998. After this note sells this evening, it could be decades before another piece reaches the market. The assigned PMG grade of 30 seems to be dead-on accurate. This is the first Fr. 822 graded by any of the services. An incredible rarity that only appears when highly significant collections are offered.
