<B>Fr. 809a $5 1918 Federal Reserve Bank Note PMG Very Fine 30.</B></I> Nineteen examples are listed in Track & Price. None of those nineteen has a Track & Price listing indicating they have been seen by any grading service. Three have been reported as uncirculated; interestingly, one of those is this note, which now resides in an PMG 30 holder. The PMG grade looks dead-on accurate to us. Many notes in the census have been reported by individuals; in some instances the reports are second hand and the notes have merely been glanced-at with inexperienced eyes. The clear lesson here is not to rely on reported grade data for raw notes. In any event, this piece is well-up in the condition census for a seriously rare number. No Fr. 809a has sold at public auction since 2000 and that piece was a raw Fine 12.<BR><I>From The Thomas M.
