Fr. 80 $5 1880 Legal Tender Notes. This is the first lot from an original pack of 100 Fr. 80's that will be offered in the next 43 lots. But for a few pieces at both ends of the pack and a random note in the middle that was apparently carried as a pocket piece, the notes are fresh, bright, original and problem free. On the few occasions when Large Size packs are found, they generally have severely beaten corners and extremely heavy counting marks. The majority of the notes in this offering are free of those defects. A few of the corners are slightly rounded, and many of the notes do have counting marks, but they're far less severe than the norm. Most of the notes are being offered in Cut Sheets, with a scattering of singles throughout. This is the only pack of Small Seal 1880 Five Dollar Legals that we know to exist. Paper originality is becoming increasingly important to today's collectors, and all these notes exhibit excellent embossing on their original surfaces. The pack runs from A27088301 through -400, and this first lot comprises the first three serial-number notes. The pack will be offered in serial number order. The first note has a number of folds, badly beaten corners and a very rough top edge. A fair net grade would be Extremely Fine. Notes 2 and 3 are considerably nicer grade, About New and without body folds, although both have a number of corner folds. The first note is rather dingy, the second two quite bright. 3 notes Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
