Fr. 75 $5 1880 Legal Tender PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. Fr. 75 has always been, and remains to date, a seriously rare note. No hoards or runs of the number exist, and the census is only 25 notes long. PMG and PCGS together have graded only five Fr. 75's. This piece has all the qualities of a Superb Gem save for the centering, which is more than adequate for this 64 level. The colors are perfect, the original embossing is incredibly pronounced, and the eye appeal is unheard of for a Fr. 75. PCGS has graded one uncirculated piece, a 62, and PMG has graded only this note in any uncirculated grade. It has received PMG's two highly important positive comments, "Exceptional Paper Quality," and "Great Embossing." The highest third-party graded note to auction to this date has been a PCGS 50 which realized $5060 in October of 2005. This note is one of the most significant combinations of rarity and grade in the Flynn Collection.
From The Thomas M.
