<B>Fr. 24 $1 1875 Series D Legal Tender PMG Extremely Fine 40.</B></I> An extreme rarity, with only eighteen examples known in all grades combined. Neither grading service has graded any Fr. 24 above this level. We know of only a single example, a piece which Lyn sold in 1991 and we re-sold in January of 2006 as an uncertified Very Choice New for $31,625. All of the notes from Fr. 21 to 25 are very rare, with the most common of them the Fr. 23 with 36 known examples. This Fr. 24 is the rarest of that elite group. This note is a beauty, with decent margins, unusually bold color and a clear, crisp "Series D." The printing quality and color are so good that the double outline outside the capital "D" is clearly visible both places where it appears.
