<B>Fr. 23 $1 1875 Series C Legal Tender PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.</B></I> This is the most common of the "Series" notes, Fr. 21-25. But common is certainly not the accurate word when talking about only 36 known examples. Unlike the nearby Friedberg numbers, there is a short run of high-grade examples of Fr. 23. This note, although not previously reported, is part of that run. It's a wonderful piece with ideal paper and ink colors as well as broad, even margins. The note has also been awarded the all important PMG "Exceptional Paper Quality" comment. We sold another Fr. 23 grading PMG 64 in September of 2007 for $7,475. Since that date no Fr. 23 has auctioned in any grade.<BR><I>From The Thomas M.
