<B>Fr. 204 Hessler 1143 $100 1863 Interest Bearing Note Face Proof With Three Attached Coupons Very Fine. </B></I> This gorgeous plate letter D proof is uniface and printed on heavy paper. Six small punch cancels have been applied through the signatures of Chittenden and Spinner, while each of the attached coupons has two small punch cancels through the only signature found on them, Chittenden's. The punch cancels are as made with all proofs of this design having similar punch cancels. This proof is bright and the edges are undisturbed, while the print quality is excellent. Overall this ABNCo/National Bank Note Company proof is a stunning beauty with detailed vignettes of <I>Farmer and Mechanic</B></I>, the Treasury Building, and a vignette titled, <I>In the Turret</B></I>, which displays a Civil War naval gun crew getting ready to fire. There are only two issued Fr. 204's known, with just one in private hands. We sold that note in our Taylor Family Collection auction in February 2005 for $299,000.
