Fr. 2011-B $10 1950A Federal Reserve Note/$1 Silver C
Fr. 2011-B $10 1950A Federal Reserve Note/$1 Silver Certificate Double Denomination Choice Crisp Uncirculated. With the exception of the unique small size National Bank Note double denomination also offered as part of this collection, this is the rarest of the small size double denominations, and unquestionably the most romantic. Printed in early 1955, these were released in the New York metropolitan area, with this piece being found in northern New Jersey. Error specialist Harry Jones has estimated that only about a half dozen of these pieces have survived, and, of that number, this is unquestionably the finest. This example is crackling fresh, perfectly centered, and shows only the most minute traces of handling. It is considerably nicer than either the Levitan piece, which sold for $30,800, or the specimen which sold at Stack's this past month. Since its discovery in 1955, this note has had only two owners, the family of the individual who discovered it then, and the owner of the Taylor Family collection. Any collector would be honored to have the opportunity to become the third. Lot:15480
