Fr. 198 Hessler ITE8 $50 1863 Interest Bearing Note New Face Proof. This is an ABNCo plate C proof impression of the face of this rare issue bearing an elaborate olive-green latticework overprint, but no guilloche behind "FIFTY DOLLARS." Only three fully issued examples of this Friedberg number are known, making this one of the rarest types in the entire United States paper money field. There are two oblong punch-out cancels as made through the Treasury signatures. There is also a 2.75 inch repair on the back done with contemporary materials. As with almost all Federal proofs, this note is excessively rare and quite undervalued.

Coin Engraver: probably Joseph Wright

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
