Fr. 192b $50 1864 Compound Interest Treasury Note Ext
Fr. 192b $50 1864 Compound Interest Treasury Note Extremely Fine. Of the thirteen known examples of this Friedberg number, four are held in government hands or museums. One of those four is the Bebee piece in the ANA museum, which is reported to be an AU. Save for that example, this note is the highest-grade piece known. The colors are spectacular, with the bronze's being reflectively bright and without a hint of toning. The note is completely natural, lacking repair of any kind. Its value could, however, be enhanced if its nine pinholes were to be professionally closed. Other than that, the note is flawless. Few opportunities to buy notes of this type exist, with only fifteen genuine-example pieces known for all three Friedberg numbers combined (to this date, all 192a's found have been counterfeit.)
