Crisp Uncirculated.</B></I><BR>Unquestionably the finest known of the four reported Richmond $100 notes, two of which are offered here as part of the Cookson holdings. None of the other three examples grades higher than Very Fine. This lovely note is bright and well centered, and displays exceptionally vivid colors as well. There are a couple of closed pinholes, which are virtually impossible to locate with the naked eye, but the overall appearance of this piece is exemplary. When last offered in our May, 2002 sale, it was obtained by Dr. Cookson for $41,400. As the finest known by a considerable margin of just four pieces, it may well realize that figure again this evening.
