Fr. 1860-C $10 1929 Federal Reserve Bank Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
A beautifully centered and exceptionally well embossed example of what has never been regarded as a terribly scarce note in high grade. Oakes notes that few numbers are known for CU notes, with only a couple of fancy numbers reported as well, and indicates, "Please record a few CU numbers and let me know. I may need to reappraise this as a scarce note if few show up." That re-appraisal may have to be accelerated now that the PMG census is available. In over three years PMG has graded just eleven $10 Philadelphia FRBNs, with the highest grade save for this piece AU 58. This is not only the only Gem graded to date, it is the only uncirculated example in any grade.
From The Thomas M.
