<B>Fr. 17 $1 1862 Legal Tender PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ.</B></I> When Tom acquired this note from Stack's May 1992 sale, it was one of only three examples known and the finest of the three. Since that time, a few additional pieces have turned up, with the likely count now in the area of ten known. It's a particularly difficult note to get an accurate count, as they are very, very often misattributed. The Track & Price census list 32 examples, which is without question out of whack. Of the 32 examples, eight are listed with their series number, but only one of those eight is listed as Series 1. All Fr. 17's are from Series 1, meaning seven notes can be immediately knocked off the census. It is also a certainty that the great majority of the other notes on the Track & Price census are mislistings. PCGS and PMG together have graded six Fr. 17's to date, with this note the second finest behind a single PMG 40.<BR><I>From The Thomas M.
