PCGS Extremely Fine 40PPQ.</B></I><BR> An extraordinary discovery piece which is the first example of its kind that any of the small size experts we showed it to have seen. The new 7th Edition of the <I>Standard Guide to Small Size U.S. Paper Money</B></I> indicates that "Narrow face plates were introduced in August 1948 on face plate numbers 2028, 2029, 2030 and 2031 only." Although star examples were produced, no star serial numbers are listed, and, until the emergence of this note, no star examples were confirmed to exist. Instead of a valuation, the catalogue simply notes "Rare" for this issue. Fortunately for collectors, this discovery note is a vividly colored and barely circulated example well deserving its "Premium Paper Quality" designation by PCGS.
