When we last sold this note in May of 1997, it had been new to the census and it was described, "While this new piece to the census receives the rather low technical grade of Fine, we expect it will realize far in excess of what a normal Fine would bring. The margins and color are nothing short of spectacular and with the exception of a well-repaired margin nick, the note is totally original. In the hands of the proper restorer, this nick, which does not reach the design, could be re-repaired to completely disappear. The two large red "L"s and the seal are brighter red than we have seen on a number of the notes reported to be uncirculated." That description still holds. While Fine is the right grade, this note certainly looks much better.
