Fr. 1354 Milton 3R50.8c 50¢ Third Issue Justice C
Fr. 1354 Milton 3R50.8c 50¢ Third Issue Justice Choice About New. Held from the Gem New grade by an extremely light vertical fold that could easily be overlooked. This piece is second by a hair only to the ex-Boyd example auctioned by Stack's last May for $20,700. This piece is beautifully margined on both sides and reasonably bright for a Fiber Paper Justice. The printing is sharp throughout the design on both sides with the exception of the top edge of the face, which is almost always weak on this number. We are not certain of the pedigree of this piece, but we believe it to be one of the two pieces that Milt Friedberg owned in 1978 when his Encyclopedia was published, then on to Doug Hales, and then privately to Tom O'Mara. CAA has offered Fr. 1353 at auction ten times in our career, but we have brought only five Fr. 1354's to the auction block. The O'Mara piece boasts incredible overall eye appeal, and we expect it will easily reach and quite likely surpass . . .
