Fr. 1325 50c Third Issue Spinner Superb Gem New. One of the finest examples we've seen of a "1" and "a" Red Back Spinner. The note is incredibly bright and beautifully centered on both sides among broad, even margins. The original embossing is unusually deep and easily seen. The note has very minor offset marks at the edges of its broad margins, which is almost universally the case for "1" and "a" notes, as they were produced from the upper left corner of the plate. This example also shows the light indentation of the corner of that plate at the very outer left corner tip. This is a rare number in any grade, and it's virtually never seen this nice. We've handled more 1325's than anyone else, and have called only four of them Superb. The most recent example was from our September 2000 sale, which realized $2090. This note from the Herget Collection was purchased from the fat old ugly bald guy from Boston who can't catch fish in December of 1991.
