Fr. 1311 Milton 1R50.2 50¢ First Issue Horizontal
Fr. 1311 Milton 1R50.2 50¢ First Issue Horizontal Pair Extremely Fine. From our sale of the Milt Friedberg Collection, where its interesting history was described, "All perforated multiples are very rare, and Fr. 1311 particularly so. This pair, which contains its top margin selvage, is of added interest due to its illustrious pedigree and previous incorrect description. It went from David Proskey to George Blake, and later to the 1969 MANA auction as a small perforated pair. The lengthy description in that catalog included the information, 'Perf 16 . . . This item is unique and cannot be duplicated according to the statement of Mr. Blake.' It's certainly very rare and it may well be unique, but not because the perforations are the smaller number 16. They are the standard 12." At our 1997 Friedberg Sale, this pair realized $660. It should do considerably better this evening.
