<B>Fr. 1216 $500 1882 Gold Certificate PMG Choice Very Fine 35.</B></I> PMG has graded only a single 40 above the level of this beautiful VF 35. The note has wonderful color and the look of a full XF-AU from the face. The back is a hair weaker, with a few folds visible and a touch of soil. But the bright orange ink color remains fully vivid on the back, which is most unusual for a high-denomination Gold Certificate. Only twenty-seven Fr. 1216's appear in the Track & Price census, with not a single note grading better than 40. Neither service has yet graded an example past that 40 grade. The highest third-party graded note to auction through this date has been a PCGS 20 which realized $18,400 in our September 2007 sale. This note, which is several grades higher, will very likely double that figure.<BR><I>From The Thomas M.
