<B>Fr. 1194 $50 1882 Gold Certificate PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ.</B></I> This note is an old friend, which we have sold twice before. The last time was in April 2006, when it realized $29,900. Prior to that, it was in our January 8, 1999 sale of the Cookson Collection where it was described: "Again, Dr. Cookson has obtained the finest known example of the Friedberg number, and in the case of this incredible 1194, no other note is even close. This strictly original beauty has perfect colors, large, even margins and incredibly deep, original embossing. It's a Superb Gem but for a single, extremely light fold far to the left. Absent this almost undetectable flaw, the note is Superb in every possible respect. The combination of quality and rarity of this note makes it an irreplaceable treasure that must be obtained in order to own the definitive Gold Certificate collection." PMG agreed with our grade of Choice About New and has added the comments "Exceptional Paper Quality, Great Embossing".
