Fr. 1133bL $1000 1918 Federal Reserve Note CGA Gem Uncirculated 65. When we first offered this note in May 1993, we described it as: "Only four $1000s are known from this district with the White-Mellon signature combination, and this is the finest of them. Well centered on both sides with excellent colors, margins, and paper surfaces, this beauty is just a breath away from being Superb." The Census has not changed in the intervening years and there are still only four San Francisco Fr. 1133b's known. Those four, plus five pieces from the Atlanta District, make up the total Census for Fr. 1133b's. As with the equally rare Fr. 1133a's, the value of these notes is held down simply because it does not have its own Friedberg number. This oversight in 1953 is still being felt in today's market. Were this note a separate Friedberg number, as it certainly should be, its value would be significantly higher. This note would be a $60,000 item as a simple Fr. 1133. As the infinitely rarer White-Mellon signature combination Fr. 1133b, it should certainly double that number.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
