Fr. 1133 $1000 1918 Federal Reserve Note Very Choice
Fr. 1133 $1000 1918 Federal Reserve Note Very Choice New. By leaps and bounds, this note is the finest known from the very rare Kansas City district. This applies even if one accepts the erroneous grade listed in United States Paper Money Records by Gengerke. This note is listed there as "EF-AU." The other three known examples reported by Gengerke are: a Fine handled by Tom Denly in 1988, a VF permanently held by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and another Fine reported by Bill Rindone in 1984. We sold this note in May of 1999 for $38,500, and we would expect it to do better on today's more sophisticated market. The minor handling marks described on a 1977 fixed-price list are simply too minor to count, and the "vertical folds" mentioned in its 1991 auction appearance simply do not exist. Examine this one very carefully, and we're sure that you will agree. Lot:16791
