Fr. 1133 $1000 1918 Federal Reserve Note Fine-Very Fi
Fr. 1133 $1000 1918 Federal Reserve Note Fine-Very Fine. From our September 2000 sale. It was then, and remains now, the only available Fancy Serial Number Thousand Dollar Fed from any district. Four serial-number-one notes are known, but they are all permanently impounded, three in the Smithsonian and one in the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. The Kansas City J3333A note is also known, but it is in the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. This is the only Fancy Serial Large Size Thousand available to collectors. The surfaces are a bit soft, but this pleasing serial number L111A $1000 Fed has retained most all of its printing clarity. The top and bottom margins are rather close, but the overall appearance is quite nice. In September of 2000, it realized $7150 on an estimate of $6000-up. With the tremendous emphasis on special numbers in the current market, it should do considerably better tonight. Lot:16793
