A narrative of the treatment of federal prisoners of war in the rebel military prisons of Richmond, Danville, Andersonville, Savannah, and Millen; describing the author's escape with two comrades, from Andersonville and the blood hounds; his adventures during a fourteen nights' march in the swamps of western Georgia, and his subsequent re-capture; to which is added a large list of those who have died in various prisons in the Confederacy.

A two page diagram of the Andersonville Stockade showing plan for fortifications soon after Gen. Stoneman's Cavalry raid upon Macon in August 1864.
List of names of Ohio soldiers who died at Andersonville, GA, and Salisbury, NC

Description and Condition:
Brown boards with gilt lettering. Corners bumped and edges worn all around. Top and bottom cloth on spine is chipped. Inside -- the pages are clean but foxed. No rips or tears. PP 120-121 there is a piece of paper used for a bookmark and the pages are browned where it sits. Front end paper is missing. Good condition considering it is 142 years old.
