Four U.S. Eagle Head Pommel Swords
1) Ketland Eagle Pommel Sword, with 27 5/8" single fuller blade with light engraving near the hilt. The hilt has a brass five-ball counter guard with down-turned quillion and ribbed bone grip. Fair, the brass knuckle-bow may be a replacement. The blade is pitted and the scabbard is missing. 2) Eagle head pommel officer's saber with 29 3/4-inch curved single fuller blade, decorated with gold-washed, dry needle engravings. The saber has a gold-plated brass hilt with stirrup-shaped knuckle bow, down-turned quillion and lagnets with relief cast eagles. The saber has a bone grip with spiral grooves. Fair. The blade has been cleaned, the quillion is bent and the grip has several age cracks. 3) Silver-plated, Eagle Head Infantry Officer's Saber with curved 29 3/4-inch single fuller blade decorated with simple engraving of military trophies. The hilt has an elaborate, cast knuckle bow, lagnets with cast eagle and shield, down-turned knuckle bow, and grooved bore grip. The sword is in good overall condition with loose knuckle bow and missing scabbard. 4) Eagle Head Infantry Officer's sword with 33-inch, straight single fuller blade with dry-etch decorations. The sword has a brass hilt with five-ball knuckle guard, down turned quillion and fluted wooden grip. The sword does not have a scabbard. Good. The blade has a gray patina with moderate pitting and faint etching. The brass hilt has not been polished. The wooden grip shows moderate wear.
